Bio Sculpture Technician Spotlight - Caroline Hazell

At Bio Sculpture we want to highlight some of the fantastic work and careers of our lovely clients. From salon owners, 5 star spas and the hobbyist all of our clients are important to us. We have taken a look at five of our client's stories which we will release over the coming weeks. Up first, Caroline Hazell owner of Lovely Nails (Home Technician).

Why did you decide to start a career in nails?

I worked as an Employment Solicitor and always used to have my nails done. When I went on maternity leave with my second child in 2011 I decided that I would love to train - just really to be able to do my own nails, friends and family!

What made you choose Bio Sculpture?

I did a lot of research into different products, and was used to having my nails done with Bio Sculpture so wanted to train with the brand. My Educator was great and I left feeling confident and optimistic about the future.

Why does a career as a manicurist suit you more than your previous career?

Being a Nail Technician gives me the freedom and flexibility to work around my family whilst doing something I thoroughly enjoy!!
I continued working as a solicitor part time and gradually built up a nail business! I eventually decided it was time to resign from my job and launch a new career!

What is your favourite Bio Sculpture colour?

I love the choice of colours Bio Sculpture provide... but my favourites have to be Pinotage and Glitter Bug! (They are also fabulous worn together!!)

What are your top tips for someone wanting to make a career change and become a manicurist?

I suppose my top tips for someone looking to change their career and become a nail technician would be..., practice as much as you can..... gradually build up clients - and don’t be disheartened if things don’t take off as quickly as you’d like! Start off small and take lots of pictures of your work!

How many hours a week do you work?

I currently work around 20 hours a week around my family life.

How do you find your clients?

I find my clients by using social media - it’s a great tool and it generates a lot of interest! The best way of attracting new business for me has always been recommendations, so I share pictures as much as possible and support other Bio Technicians! I attend Refresher Training courses and always meet new technicians - we all have a story!
